Today i went for a walk, normally most people would think: “ok thats great, i walk every single day”. But todays walk was special. After football my dad and I decided that, just like when i was young, we would go for a walk round the places were i used to live. Through the mystical wildwood road where i used to listen to stories my dad would think of 10 years ago (which by the way were very good, mainly because he’s a creative writer) and past the homely cottages of the suburbs. Today was a real ‘nostalgic day’ where the past was re-written, except now I’m taller than my dad and when we last went we were 10 years younger.
It’s strange to think that as soon as you move house you stop doing things you used to do. I was reminded of so many parks that i learnt football in or first learnt how to ride a bike. It was a nice day but sometimes you have to find new parks where you first learn how to jump on a bike or play football with your friends.
However, even if i don’t go to those past places, the memories will still be with me. And who knows, maybe i might take my children out for walks when they are young around their special parks and forests.
Today, my friend came round to my house after school and, because it was the end of the week, brought with him: the new call of duty game.Even though i only started playing shooting games with James Bond, quantum of solace a few years ago, i have quickly learnt the reins of how to compete in the modern Call of Duty games with my friends and online gamers around the world. Although i may not be “the pro” who completely destroys every single game killing everybody on the field at least 11 times (11 is another one of my new themes today- just check my other posts) i would like to think of myself as a decent player who can hold myself up in matches against my friends.
The thing is, as a teenager, it is part of my duty for the next 5 years to play video games non-stop and not move from the sofa. However, i just can’t seem to figure out whats so much better about this new MW3 compared to previous games. Normally i can notice the difference in games, i recently bought fifa 12 after finally moving from PES 2011 and was straight away converted into a fifa guy, but with this new game, i just don’t see anything special.
I know that even though I’m not completely hyped up about the game, i will still end up playing it for most of the weekend and the weekends to come as my friends are hooked and unless i want to sit at home alone all day, i might have to sit, do nothing and stare at a tv screen all day….with friends.
At least i know that i get out of spending £50 on a video game though, maybe I’ll buy a new football or some running trainers and get a head start on all my friends while their losing their fitness doing nothing all day so when we start to do sport, ill be “the pro”.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3- a teenagers dream?
Today as i hoped, on the 11th of the 11th in 2011, somebody finally looked at my blog! hopefully the first of many to come!
Well, its been a long week involving spanish oral examinations, chemistry test results and the release of tracking grades but finally, the weekend is here. I don’t have a clue how i got here but i know that definitely deserve a break. Firstly, i listened to the whole of “for emma, forever ago” by Bon Iver during my walks to the school coach stop in the mornings this week. Also I had a breakthrough in my art work with the idea of taking a picture of Mark Cavendish (yes he is becoming a recurring theme in my blog now) winning the 2009 champs elysees race in the tour de france, and instead of having his body, drawing in pistons and other mechanical stuff to make him look like a robot. For all we know he may be a robot and thats the reason he wins so often!
I also edited my blog and changed my banner, let me know what you think! While surfing through blogs, commenting on as many as i can to try and increase my number of readers up to a positive integer (I’ve been using those in maths today, which also happened to be the lesson when the clock struck 111111111111, no i didn’t accidentally leave my hand on the 1 for too long, it was 11 seconds past 11 minutes past 11 hours on the 11th of the 11th month in 2011.) so hopefully someone will click on the green racing bike button and a 1 to my view count- how exciting would that be!
For anyone that does decide to read my blog, heres a little present, a link to an awesome cat blog that i saw before. My favourite is the david meowie! http://thekittencovers.tumblr.com/
Today, i played football with my sunday football team in the first round of the county cup, normally it ends up being a huge result for us and a very boring game for me, the defender. But today was no ordinary game, as you see, i was one of two players not to have scored a goal in the whole of last season and the current season…until 10 minutes from the end when the other person scored… As we were 6-0 up my manager decided: “today is the day that everyone in the team will finally have scored” and then put me upfront, in search for my first goal for my club, ever. Then, with 5 minutes to go, a sign occurred, the oppositions goalkeeper dislocated his finger and the only other replacement for him was a half injured outfield player that could hardly run, this could be my chance to score! Then with the clock running down, i founf myself past the opposition defensive line, one on one with the limping substitute goalkeeper. Every parent watching from my team held their breath, waiting form to finally score and then……….. I missed. I hit it at the goalkeeper. The best chance I ever had to score a goal was gone, and now, not only am I the person that missed that incredible chance, I’m also the ONLY one who is yet to score for my team. All I can say is, let the piss-taking begin, and maybe next time we play a cup match, I might get to take a penalty, i just better start practicing them then… One idea that has come out of this though is to wear a t-shirt under my kit saying “and finally…” i will wear this shirt for every football game i ever play in until I score, or until i stop playing football depending on whether i get another chance.
Well, two weeks of freedom are finally over and now I’m back to waking up before the crack of dawn, putting on my school uniform working from 8 till i fall asleep. Normally, whenever i go back to school I feel a little excited; I’m seeing friends again that i haven’t seen for a while, I feel fitter and also feel as though there’s a purpose to my days but this time I definitely am not excited. The reason is that even though i had nothing to do each day, i still couldn’t manage getting an early night under my belt and so i feel even more tired than when i was at school, my cold thats starting to surface doesn’t help that either. But there’s nothing i can do except be like a man and not like a mouse and get up and go to school. One good thing about school tomorrow is that I’ve finally found a reason to start my book, Kavalier and Clay, which at this moment I can’t say much about but as soon as I get past the first chapter, ill talk more. Also, I can finally join the Cross Country team and although i may not be competing, I’ll be getting fitter and also hopefully help my PE GCSE in which cross country may be one of my chosen sports alongside cycling, athletics and one mystery sport which has not been decided yet! Im now off to bed to make sure I’m bright and chirpy in the morning and can use my brain which, i hope hasn’t completely turned into mush over the holiday!
